ABOUT TURKISH FOOD
Being my favourite cuisine, the Turkish Cuisine has always been something I was passionate about. At home, I (almost) eat nothing but Turkish food. My mom is also in love with cooking and baking. She absolutely loves to discover new recipes and try them out (with her own twist, though.)

I live in Belgium, but there are a lot of Turkish restaurants and shops you can go to. But the real Turkish flavours can only be found in Turkey. When we visit Turkey, we always try to discover new dishes and then we try them ourselves.
In Europe, there are a lot of Turkish restaurants, which the Europeans (in general) adore. Even if it is just a snack bar or classy restaurants, they attract a lot of locals and tourists, especially in the big cities like Paris, Berlin and Brussels.

If we look at the Turkish Cuisine as we know it today, it goes way back to the Ottoman Empire (1299-1922) and has influenced a lot of other cuisines, such as the Balkan cuisine or sometimes the other way around.
But even in the Turkish Cuisine, there are a lot of different cuisines based on the region.

My region (Central Anatolia) is known for their pastries with meat. The Black Sea region is known for their fish and vegetable dishes. East Turkey is known for their meat dishes and so on...
Because Turkey has such a wide variety of flavours, I want to pick out the most special ones instead of just posting the regular known dishes and desserts like döner kebab and baklava. I will post that kind of recipes once in a while, but it definitely will not be dominant. After all, these 'stereotypical' recipes are still delicacies!

With fun quotes, intros and fun facts once in a while, I try to run a blog that is fun to read. I try to avoid being a regular recipe blog/site.

Fun fact: I made this website for a school assignment, but while I was building the site, I noticed that I was really enjoying it and that I really started to like the outcome. That is why I hope I can run this blog successfully and go on with it, even after my assignment.
I also want to make something clear: I do not own any of the recipes or videos. If I do, I will clearly mention this to avoid misunderstandings. I also try to find a video (preferably in English) to really show how the dish/drink/dessert in particular is made. If it's not in English, I always mention it that it is just to show how to make a dish, because visuals are always easier to follow.
